BOCA has a long and proud record in conservation, both at the local and national level, and gives practical encouragement to concerned birdwatchers to initiate programs to benefit birdlife and natural habitat. BOCA employs a Conservation Coordinator and provides seeding grants for small scale habitat protection and endangered species research, through our own Australian Bird Environment Foundation (ABEF).
BOCA's Conservation Objectives are:
BOCA produces a conservation network newsletter The Harrier. Three editions each year are published as a supplement in The Bird Observer. This newsletter contains reports of BOCA's conservation activities and short articles on general conservation issues of interest to birdwatchers.
